It seemed that the bird was chirped out. I was outside for a while, and heard it a little farther away than usual. This evening around 9:00 pm I went out to the kitchen. At first nothing. Then, chirp chirp chirp....
It occurred to me to whistle back, and the birdy went wild, chirping nonstop. When he finally stopped to catch his breath, I began whistling back again. This restarted the conversation. I left the kitchen but I could hear him continue to chirp for a few minutes.
I suppose the bird is reacting to the fact that I've been putting out birdseed regularly.
