The Blue Car

Once my mother and I were riding to her house which was in a wooded area at the end of a winding road.  About an eighth of a mile before the house the road turned sharply around a pond, and one could see the house for a moment, but then it disappeared behind trees until one pulled up to it.  At the moment I saw the house, I also saw a blue car parked in front of a gate near the house. Then the house and the car disappeared behind the trees, and I wondered who was visiting us.  A few seconds later we arrived at the house, but the blue car was gone.  "That's funny!" I said to my mother. "I saw a blue car parked in front of the gate."  I supposed I was mistaken, but I was even more surprised when she said that she had seen the blue car also.  "It couldn't have left.  There's no other way out.  And there was no time."  

Several years later we were remembering the blue car mystery.  She mentioned that other people had seen the blue car parked in that spot, and were startled when it vanished and asked her about it.  

It was a ghost car.
