The Life of Mrs. Rex Heuerman

The focus of the news has been big bad Rex Heuermann lately.  Little wonder.   He's hard to wrap your head around, and if you did you would wish you hadn't.   Oh my.  A former escort tells of cautiously meeting him in public before leaving with him about eight years ago, and becoming alarmed when he brought up the subject of the Gilgo Beach murders.  These murders were alarming everyone in that part of the country, sending ripples of fear throughout Long Island and beyond.  He had asked her if she enjoyed accounts of true crime, and she said she did.  She saw that he seemed to be reliving the murders in his mind as he mentioned them, and spoke with excitement of how the murderer probably put his victims in burlap bags  to dispose of them in a nearby marsh.  It's hard to imagine enjoying the thought.  She thought he was sending off scary vibes and asked a friend to meet her at the restaurant and help her to her car.   She described a gigantic man with a more than firm handshake.

And so we have been treated to many gory details of what can happen to wayward women.   And Rex Heuermann.  Oh, he was, until just recently, a respected member of the community, being well versed in arcane building codes and an architect.  OK.  Maybe a socially awkward person who came across as having a boring life.   Enter Alla Ellerup, Mrs. Rex Heuermann.  Did she spice things up?  Well, she appeared to be the epitome of a housewife that had gradually become older  and faded and involved mainly in performing her duties, but without particular joy.   Yay.   Also not a social butterfly.

Reporters can't get much out of her.  No wonder.  But when she is caught in news footage, she is really an enigma.  Did she suspect that her husband was a monster?  That's assuming he is, which he denies.  Her hairs, probably her hairs anyway, were found on four corpses.  That must be disturbing to her.  She is not at all suspected, as this can be easily explained as an inadvertent transfer from her home.  And she was in Iceland when the crimes happened.  I would describe what I've seen of her as a woman who has had the life sucked out of her.

Why were the hairs analyzed using the European DNA analysis magic, instead of North American?  Because she is from Iceland.   How ghastly to have sought her fortune in America and to be handed the rubble she is currently enduring.

Not surprisingly, she is in the process of getting a divorce.   Looking at her situation, one's mind fills with questions.  What was she like as a young woman?  What was her life like in Iceland?  What seemed like it might be better about living in the United States?  What was her courtship  with Rex Heuermann like?  How many others suitors had he won out over?  Had she been in love with him at one time?  How did she imagine life to be as the bride of Rex Heuermann?  What were her dreams?  When did she become disillusioned?   What were the ups and downs of her life?  Who is Mrs. Heuerman?

Mrs. Heuermann has a sister, who I didn't find to seem as defeated as Mrs. Heuermann.  Unlike Mrs. Heuermann, she has spoken to reporters, and said she definitely didn't realize the dark side of Rex Heuermann.

Wishing you a happier future Mrs. Heuerman.
