Vaccinated by Salad?

I read an article claiming that the COVID vaccine was being studied to put into lettuce, thereby getting people to take the vaccine unknowingly by eating food.  I think the idea has been thought of, and even is in the process of being studied.  I don't think it's being done now, since it hasn't been developed yet.

I don't think giving credence to such an idea is silly.

Can vaccines be put into food?  Yes, rabies vaccines are given to raccoons by using food to give the raccoons an oral vaccine.  However, the COVID vaccine is extremely sensitive to temperature, and must be kept at low temperatures to remain effective.

Can the vaccine be eaten by eating vaccinated animals?  It's unlikely.  Cooking and digestion would render the vaccine ineffective.  But it seems like a good question to me since there are examples of vaccines taken orally.
